Monologues
A Monologue is a dramatic or comedic work for a single performer. They can speak to other people who are not there. They can portray multiple characters. The words you read and hear may be thoughts in the character’s own mind, they may be words directed at others, or they may spilling their soul directly to you, the gentle witness.
But a monologue is a glimpse through the words and senses of one single person. These resonate with us so distinctly because we recognize it is the only way any of us can really perceive the world.
