The Descent of Randolph Carter, a radio play adaptation of HP Lovecraft’s “The Statement of Randolph Carter”

Wow, long title.

I’ve revised the radio play and submitted it. You can read it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ancnwEjyo8lAdtDFzKtuzat0fGeaLs7rKSGFJ_sPr8k/edit?usp=sharing

Oh, and if you’re interested in reading the original short story that the play is based on, here it is: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tN5-JoSAXaFfHXsIiMPYDvt7b4XqpQNm6fjQ01YnjxE/edit?usp=sharing

I decided since in the original story, Randolph was giving a statement to the police and in the radio play I just dramatized the narrative of the story he tells, the word “Statement” in the title didn’t make much sense. I was planning to use Fate of Randolph Carter, but like Descent much better. It’s an irony because Carter doesn’t actually descend into the earth, Warren does, but Carter has his own descent into madness as a result. And the ending narration alludes to that as well.

The production I submitted to was The Post-Meridian Radio Players in Boston, MA, for their Halloween 2026 anthology of Cosmic/Eldritch Horror radio plays. Their website is at https://pmrp.org/submit/.

Wish me luck!
