Rejections

Sometimes I feel like if I didn’t get rejection emails for play submissions, I wouldn’t get any email at all. Two rejections in the last two days.

Hey, why buck a trend?

Right now, the only staged reading I have on the horizon is The Snallygaster at the Parkway Playhouse in September. Which is great, I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with it. Once again, it’s one of three finalists and there’s a one-in-three chance it will be picked up for a live production next season.

But that’s it. I submit to dozens of festivals all year long, my 10-minutes, my full-lengths, radio plays, etc. It’s normal - there are dozens and sometimes hundreds of plays submitted to every festival, so it’s more the luck of the draw really. But it still sucks when your play is not good enough to make the cut.
